Seven of Swords

Taking something, cheating.
He is sneaking away with a set of markers being used to allocate territory or plan a battle

  1. In the original PCS card, the thief is almost gleeful as he carries away five swords and leaves two behind. His expression here, and the fact that someone has spotted him, carries the suggestion that he’s won these tokens by strength of character or intellect or force of arms, not that he’s won something through treachery or private skillfulness. It’s an artistic choice, I get it; I’m not saying this is wrong or write as is; but there’s something “off”about his his expression, especially with the warpaint, it seems. (Also, the champion is left-handed, because he’s wearing his sword on his right hip).

Overall, I like the composition — he’s emerging from a dark stone room into bright light, the people behind him are arguing while he’s being allowed to leave unchallenged, and a battle seems certain to break out behind him while he gets what he wants.
